About The Author

Adwina Luis was born in Ecuador and later moved to the United States to study food and nutrition. After completing her studies, she worked as a chef in El Salvador and the U.S., often in restaurants subject to frequent inspections and enforcement activity.
These years exposed her to the everyday realities of fear, bureaucracy, and quiet human suffering experienced by immigrant communities on both sides of the border. Those observations — made not as a writer, but as a witness — would later shape the themes of NIGHTMARES: The United Mistakes of America.
Luis now writes fiction that draws on lived experience to explore how policy, power, and ideology intersect with ordinary lives.
